Getting to Stellenbosch

Getting from Cape Town International Airport to Stellenbosch

There is no train or bus line that runs directly between the airport and Stellenbosch. We suggest checking with your guesthouse whether they provide a shuttle service (this is indicated on the Accommodation document provided). If not, here is a list of alternatives.

Directions for those travelling by car

  • Exit Cape Town International Airport on Borchards Quarry Rd/M22 towards the N2 national highway.

  • Take the onramp (second left) towards Somerset West. Proceed for roughly 12km.

  • Take offramp 33 (Macassar) and turn left onto Baden Powell Drive/R310 towards Stellenbosch. Proceed for roughly 13km through the twists and turns of the Winelands. Do not leave Baden Powell Drive – the road comes to a T- junction at Polkadraai Rd.

  • Turn right onto Polkadraai and proceed for roughly 5km. You will cross two sets of traffic lights. The road forks at the third set. Keep left.

  • Turn right onto Merriman Ave and follow directions to your guesthouse.

Once you are in Stellenbosch…

Once you are in Stellenbosch, it is possible to walk all over town. If you did not hire a car and would like to pursue recreational activities outside of Stellenbosch, we suggest Uber as the best option for touring the Winelands.

If you’d like to make a day trip to Cape Town, we suggest taking a MyCiti bus from the airport into the city. The MyCiti line extends throughout the greater Cape Town area.
