Additive Manufacturing (AM), alternatively referred to as 3D printing, is a layer-based process used to manufacture physical objects. Using AM technology enables the manufacturing of geometrically complex parts, which require a high degree of customisation. AM technologies are currently used in a wide variety of manufacturing sectors, which include Aerospace, Medical, Bio-medical, Dentistry, R&D, Automotive and many more. Throughout the years, AM has demonstrated its value, is of a disruptive nature and can be considered a technology that can be used improve quality of life for all human beings. This year’s conference will focus on Additive Manufacturing’s impact on all South Africans’ quality of life. As such, this year’s conference theme is:  “Building on the Foundations - Consolidating Impact into Products to Enhance Quality of Life for All South Africans”  In support of this theme, the first day of the conference will build on the success created during RAPDASA 2015 and again be dedicated to a special event entitled the South African Additive Manufacturing Innovation Showcase. The showcase will allow the general public, industry, inventors, universities and funding agencies to interact with each other. SAIIE31 Goes Virtual!

We are excited to announce the final format for the SAIIE31 Green conference for 2020.  Due to the current uncertainty around the course of the pandemic over the next few months, we have made a decision to go forward with a virtual conference.

The conference will still take place from 5-7 October 2020 and we are currently putting together an exciting line up of activities for these three days to ensure a wonderful SAIIE conference experience.

As a result of this change, we will be adjusting the conference registration fees and the deadlines for registration.  We are also extending the abstract and presentation only track deadline.

A full brochure giving you a better glimpse of what to expect and providing further information on registration and presentations will be going out early next week, so please watch out for this.

The SAIIE31 Team is really looking forward to our event this year and although it will be different, we are sure that it is going to be a conference that you will never forget!
