Abstract

Industrial engineering plays a vital role in the production improvement as well as the optimization of systems. With the growing impact of globalization, championing production of quality goods and systems is keys to survival. Another notable effect of globalization is the rise in recent years of work-based conflicts. This study intends to use DMAIC six-sigma in resolving this work-related conflicts. After complaints was raised by Quality Assurance Staffs (QAs) for works overloads and salary increases, management decided to conduct a study with the goal of evaluating the Quality assurance staffs claims. The results of the case study have identified several problems including a breakdown in communication between hierarchies. The study recommended a restructuring of work tasks and systems in order to optimise workers’ productivity and motivation.
