Abstract
There is general consensus that Computers and Information Technology has the potential for enhancing health systems applications and many good examples of such applications exist all over the world. Unfortunately, possibly even more examples of disillusionment and skepticism with respect to eHealth and Telemedicine can be found. A holistic approach is needed for successful eHealth implementation. This paper tells the story of two frameworks that were developed separately from each other with the same purpose, namely to provide a business model for user-centered eHealth implementation for sustained eHealth initiaves. These two frameworks are firstly, the roadmap of the Centre for eHealth Research (developed in the Netherlands) and secondly, the Telemedicine Maturity Model (developed in South Africa). Furthermore, this paper shows the interface between these two frameworks. To conclude, a few examples from the South Africa and the Netherlands are provided to show the application of these.
