On behalf of the local Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to attend the 5th International Macrowine Conference on macromolecules and secondary metabolites of grapevine and wine, in Stellenbosch, South Africa from 7 – 10 September, 2014.

Every two years, this International Conference brings the world’s wine scientists together to share their latest research progress, to network and collaborate with researchers from around the world, to discuss challenging issues facing the research and industry communities and develop creative solutions, and last but not least, to renew friendships and initiate new ones.

This is the first time the meeting will be held outside of Europe since the inaugural conference in France in 2006 and we are proud to convene this meeting in South Africa in 2014. Macrowine 2014 is the 5th of a series of meetings that has been highly effective in bringing together people interested in the broad field of Wine Macromolecules and secondary metabolites.

It will be held in the beautiful university town of Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, and also the heart of the South African Winelands and the home of Stellenbosch University. Stellenbosch is only 40 minutes from Cape Town and less than 30 minutes from Cape Town International Airport, and offers a wide range of accommodation, a charming town centre with numerous excellent restaurants, wine bars, pubs and other late night meeting venues for scientific discussions, all in walking distance from the conference venue and the accommodation.

Macrowine 2014 will be the forum to discuss advances and challenges in wine science and data analysis, with a particular focus on the biosynthesis, characteristics, analytical properties, and modifications during wine production and aging of macromolecules and secondary metabolites of grape and wine. An exciting conference program including invited keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations will be accompanied by opportunities to think and network, optional technical tours of the local wine industry, or simply the opportunity to enjoy the stunning natural environment of the area or to discover the city of Cape Town.

Please mark your calendar and make plans to attend the conference. We will follow up with more details on the conference program in the near future.

We look forward to welcoming you in 2014 in Stellenbosch, South Africa at Macrowine 2014.

From the Local Organising Committee
