Author Guidelines

Dear author

To assist us in the process of quickly reviewing abstracts for selection for this meeting, please adhere to the following formatting and guidelines.

  1. Authors may choose to submit either a poster or an oral presentation: please be careful to make the right selection when submitting your abstract.
  2. The abstract must be submitted in MS Word or RTF file format.  If you use LaTeX, please convert to RTF format.
  3. The abstract must be written in English.
  4. Please ensure you select a "conference track" (a theme that best fits the topic of your presentation).  If you are not sure, please select "Other".
  5. Please ensure your URLs (where applicable) work.
  6. Please format the submission text to be consistent with the format of the example given in the downloadable template (or; ensure that all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  7. Please use the Harvard referencing format, where applicable, and include references at the end OR include a separate list of references.
  8. The complete submission must not exceed two (2) pages (excluding references) of not more than 1000 words.  References can be provided as a separate formatted list.


Submission Preparation Checklist

  1. An extended abstract, in MS Word or RTF format, that is formatted according to Author Guidelines and based on the downloadable template, will form part of this submission.
  2. The author is aware that the Scientific Committee is planning to make a selection of papers from this meeting for a special issue of Annals of Forest Science.  Authors who would not like to be considered for this issue can contact David Drew or make a note in their submitted abstract or for the conference director (see dialogue box below).

Authors who submit to this conference agree to the following terms:
a) Authors retain copyright over their work, while allowing the conference to place this unpublished work under a Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows others to freely access, use, and share the work, with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and its initial presentation at this conference.
b) Authors are able to waive the terms of the CC license and enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution and subsequent publication of this work (e.g., publish a revised version in a journal, post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial presentation at this conference.
c) In addition, authors are encouraged to post and share their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) at any point before and after the conference.
